New requirements to request NISS

What kind of proof of employment do I need to submit for my NISS application?

Social Security requires individuals to provide proof of employment status as part of the NISS application. This is necessary for them to assess the application before granting NISS.

You need to provide one of the following:

  • Employment contract; or
  • Copy of the document attesting the self-employment activity beginning and copy of the receipts/invoices; or
  • Company registration certificate issued by the Institute of Registries and Notary (IRN).

For non-EU/EEA: What proof of application for residence regularisation is required for my NISS application?

Social Security requires proof of application for residence regularisation as part of the NISS application process. This helps them assess your application before granting NISS.

You need to provide one of the following:

  • Proof of application for a residence permit
  • Proof of application for a residence visa for citizens of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP)
  • Proof of application for a Residence Permit Certificate for CPLP citizens
