How to Get a Certificate of Portuguese Tax Residence (Certidão de Domicílio Fiscal)
Once you’ve initiated the process to update your NIF address and remove your fiscal representative, the tax office typically issues an updated NIF document as confirmation.
However, if you haven’t received this document, you can easily obtain a Certificate of Tax Residence through the Portal das Finanças.

Step 1: Log in to Portal das Finanças
1. Open https://www.portaldasfinancas.gov.pt/
2. Click on the “Iniciar Sessão” button located at the top right corner.
3. Navigate to the NIF tab and enter your NIF number and your password.
4. Click the “Autenticar” button.
Step 2: Access the Request Certificate page
1. Use the search bar at the top of the page to search for “Pedir Certidão.”
2. Locate “Pedir Certidão” and click “Aceder.“
Step 3: Download Your Certificate of Tax Residence (Certidão de Domicílio Fiscal)
1. From the drop-down menu, select “Domicílio Fiscal” and confirm by clicking “Confirmar.”
2. Next, click the “Obter” button.
3. A new browser tab will open with your certificate ready for download.
